Dawn's Diary
June 21, 2003
Dear Diary
This weekend was quite full of activities! Victoria has been playing on
the local All Stars Girls Pony League softball team, and this week they had a
tournament.
This
was an historic event, as our town has never had a girls team compete in All
Stars, much less at a tournament. The girls were at a disadvantage from the
start. Being such a small town, we don't have the numbers of girls
participating. We barely were able to scrounge up enough to make a roster. But
the girls played and acted like the true All Stars they were. It all
started last weekend when we began playing practice games every night of the
week. Playing every night gets tiring, but they didn't complain. They did
very well too, beating most every team and really giving it all against those
teams that were more competitive. Friday was the beginning of the
tournament. They won their first game easily against the Balcones team. We
had played them last season and had no trouble with them then either. The
competition got stiffer the next day when we played Town and Country. I figured
we'd be in for a hard ride....David's soccer team got smoked by them last year.
They have a tremendous complex and were able to put together a strong team due
to the number of girls playing in the Town and Country League. The girls
did well, however. They played hard and kept good attitudes. The second
game on Saturday was much like the first. The Round Rock team was stronger and
pounded to ball to the outfield almost every time. It was a great showing
for Georgetown, though, and the girls had a great time.
In the meantime, we haven't seen David too much. He has practically been living with one of his friends. I hear he is supposed to make an appearance here tonight. We shall see.....
The pond is doing great. The plants are all thriving, both in and
around the pond. The fish are doing well too, and the frog is still out there.
I have included some pictures of the pond for you to see here, as well as some
pictures of Ripley (of course).
That's it for now!
