Dawn's Diary January, 2004

Dear Diary

Well, with Christmas behind us everything is settling down to normal again.  Kids   are back at school, work is back (though not for long) and it is a sunny 73 degrees outside (you gotta love Texas!).  Ripley's leg is finally done mending and he is released to normal activity again. Here he is, clearly enjoying the freedom this release brings  .  Not to be outdone, Lizzie joined him in celebrating his new ability to run and play again  .  In any case, how do you like my new fireplace screen?  We had been meaning to get one for years, but when we saw how expensive they are we always left the store without one. However, Lizzie likes to pick up the little black lava rocks and chew on them, so we were tired of picking them up from all over and putting them back in the fireplace.  So in a way, we owe our new screen to her.  It looks nice though, doesn't it?

The biggest news this month is that we are getting ready for the Westminster dog show in New York. Tom  and I will be leaving February 7 and staying in New York for about 4 days. I have box tickets and we will stay at the show all day that Monday and Tuesday.  I am so excited I can hardly stand it  !  They judge the Cavaliers at 1:45 on Monday, so you can bet we will be there then!  In any case, I am sure we will have lots of pictures and tales to tell upon our return from that!

Meanwhile, I am biding my time at work.  The end of March seems so far away, yet so close as well. It will be strange not going to work anymore after being there so long.  But at the same time, it isn't the same place it used to be and I can hardly stand what it has become.  I am becoming quite accustomed to the life of the stay home parent and you know, it isn't half bad.  There is a whole world of activity going on around this place when David gets home from school...girls coming by, kids all around.  Yep, I think I will just keep my eye on this for a while, while I work on the next phase of my life...but you will hear more about that a little closer to summer.....

Well, there are no pictures this time...I tried to insert most of the ones I have taken in this update (you can see I haven't taken very many lately...but there will be MANY dog show pics come next update!  Until then, take care.
