The Aquarium

Yet another loophole was found in my acquisition of the aquarium.  In our house, we have this second living room that for the longest time contained only our piano.  I toyed with a multi-media room, a library, a pool room...but nothing seemed right and they all came with a pretty hefty price tag.  One day, I was reminiscing on my earlier days of fish-keeping.  I lost my last aquarium in the great fire of '97 .  I love keeping fish, I have always had good luck with them and they are fascinating to watch.  Anyway, as I was evaluating what to do with the room, I made an off-hand remark about "just putting a big ol' aquarium in there".  After all, as expensive as aquariums are...it was much cheaper than any of the other ideas I had come up with.  As I cringed, awaiting the reaction...the clouds parted!  It would seem that some people believe aquariums to be furniture!  Astounded at my fortune, I rushed out the very next day and got the biggest aquarium I could find and get home (with the help of a friend's truck).   My tank is a 125 gallon glass aquarium.  I have an Eheim 2260 canister filter underneath in the tank stand.  A couple of powerheads are usually on, but the fish often take delight in displacing them.  The tank is a dedicated Lake Tanganyika Cichlid tank (with a couple of clown loaches thrown in for good measure). My treasures of the tank are the Frontosa's, the big daddy is pictured here.  Other than that, I have a variety including Brichardi's (breeding like mad) L. Leleupi, J. Transcriptus, J. Marlieri, Brevis, Altolamprologus and some Synodontis Petricola.
