Dear Diary

How quickly the school year races by. Now I am officially almost OLD. My son has completed 9th grade and will now be at the High School Campus. You see, he was at the 9th grade Campus this past year and that, to me, does not officially count as High School.  People who have kids in High School are, well.....almost OLD.  I have raised the bar to say that one is not officially old until they have all kids in college.  It used to be that people were old when their kids were in High School. But clearly I was mistaken on that measurement.  Of course, I still have Victoria in Middle School for one more year so by that measure I am actually quite young.

Perhaps even scarier is that David now has his learner's permit to drive. We managed to jump through every hoop, notarized affidavit, proof of identity etc that they could throw at us to acquire this permit.  Perhaps they figure if you are smart enough to be able to navigate the complex and largely unnecessary maze of administrivia, you should be allowed to have a permit.

Vic is at the lake currently with her twin sister Maddie.  Next week David takes his friend, Drew, up to the lake and Vic and Maddie come home for Volleyball camp.  Vic is going to try out for the 8th grade team next year for the Fall semester and head back to tennis in the Spring.

David once again made the "White" Lonestars soccer team which was a big accomplishment and he seems pretty happy about it. What he is most happy about, however, is his new Ipod that the Ipod fairy bestowed upon him for our upcoming trip to Mexico.

Shine is coming into her own. She picked up two more Reserve Winners ribbons at the Beaumont show in April .  Steve showed her for me and did a fabulous job. She is at the point now where, unless for reasons beyond our control, Steve will show her me all the time.  I simply can't compete with those pros out there in the political world of Standard poodles. I love to watch from the ring side, it is so exciting!  We showed in Denton recently but did nothing of note there. Mark showed her for me there as Steve had a prior commitment.  She got like 2nd place one day and 4th the next. Mark hasn't shown standards before and there are some subtle but important aspects of showing Shine that are necessary in order for her to "shine" in the ring.  He is such a cute kid, I love him. He is the one who got reserve for me with her in Fort Worth on the third day of the show after I got dumped the first two days.

Anyway, we have the big River City Cluster coming up in San Antonio in mid July. Right after we get back from Mexico.  Five days of shows. It is a big show, so I don't know what to expect!

Well, that's about it for now.  Will update again after our vacation and the San Antonio circuit!
