LSRC Flick and LSRC Ratster AND MORE NEW ARRIVALS!!!!! (Arrived February 22, 2003)
LSRC Schwartz and Fez LRSR Flick, Ratster, Schwartz and Fez were bred and born at Lone Star Rats of Central Texas. Lone Star Rats of Central Texas is a small hobby rattery located in Austin, Texas. The rats in this rattery have long developed lines and receive the highest level care and socialization possible. Flick, Fez and Schwartz are all from the same litter. The father is SE Event Horizon of LSRC, a black rex self dumbo-eared, and the mother is SE Midnight of LSRC, a black self dumbo-eared. All 3 are dumbo-eared rats. Flick and Fez are Black selfs (meaning all black) and Flick has a Rex coat (Fez has a standard coat). Schwartz is a Blue Point Siamese Rex. Ratster is a Blue Berkshire (standard ears) born on December 26, 2002. His father is WR Luna of LSRC, a blue irish dumbo carrier. His mother is WF Sasha of LSRC, a platinum agouti dumbo carrier. All rats are pedigreed and registered with the North American Rat Registry. Sadly, Schwartz has left us for the Rainbow Bridge. Read his memorial Here.
A word about rat breeders..... You may be wondering..."why would you get a rat from a rat breeder" and also "I didn't even know there was such thing as a rat breeder". Let me shed some light on this subject for you. There are many people in this world who love rats as much or more than cats and dogs. Some of these people have dedicated their time and resources toward developing specialized rat varieties (colors, coat types, ear types, etc.) while also focusing on improving the overall health and temperament of their rat lines. Rats obtained from these hobby breeders are the finest rats one can find. A reputable breeder will select for breeding only the rats that are of the highest quality. Offspring from such breeding practices make excellent loving and healthy pets. Don't get me wrong, pet store rats can make excellent pets as well. However, these rats are usually bred and sold for the purpose of feeding reptiles. Little thought is given to the genetics, health or temperament of the parents. Additionally, they are not well socialized as youngsters and receive little human interaction. These rats may suffer more health and socialization problems. There are plenty of pet store rats out there who make wonderful pets. However, if you are thinking of getting rats for pets, I encourage you to research hobby breeders in your area. By obtaining a rat from a reputable hobby breeder, you are giving your rat relationship the best chance for success. See us in the Rat Photo Gallery Wilken's Wacky Wodents Home
